Event Review: The Meeting with Bees

On November 5th, the children from Chen Xiaoyu Picture Book Club once again visited Joy Valley for a delightful encounter with honeybees.

How is Honey Produced?

Equipped with protective gear, let’s get up close and personal with the honeybees!

Where do honeybees live? Where do they produce honey? What does a beehive look like? How is honey made? The instructor explained each question one by one. Then, the children got hands-on experience in the process of making honey, and they felt a great sense of accomplishment in the end!

Building “Homes” for the Honeybees

In order to enhance honey production, modern beekeeping facilities have adopted advanced equipment and meticulous management techniques. However, at Joy Valley Riding, we embrace a more primitive approach to beekeeping by constructing rustic beehives. Will the honey produced using this natural method be even sweeter?

The materials for making the beehives were sourced entirely from nature. The children transformed into little craftsmen, personally selecting, polishing, and processing the materials to build “homes” for the honeybees.

Homemade Signature Wood-fired Rice

At Joy Valley, every morsel of food we enjoy is the result of hard work. As lunchtime approached, the children ventured into the vegetable garden to harvest fresh produce. They then proceeded to wash the vegetables, prepare the fillings, wrap dumplings, and stir-fry the vegetables. The dining table showcased the fruits of their labor, and every bite tasted especially delicious and satisfying!

Artistic Creation

After a day of learning, what did the children gain? Why not pick up their paintbrushes and capture their experiences and observations from today?

A Moment of Honor

As the course comes to an end, the certificates in their hands serve as a testament to the children’s diligent learning and hard work.
