Event Review: The Relationship between Turtles and Nature

On October 15th, Joy Valley teamed up with Chen Xiaoyu Picture Book Gallery to jointly launch the “Relationship between Turtles and Nature” nature education journey.

On that morning, the children gathered at Joy Valley and walked together into the venue. Along the way, under the guidance of the mentors, they engaged in nature observation, learning about the organisms within the valley, and exploring the joys of life.

At the venue, the children participated in a fun turtle and rabbit race game. They also assisted in picking vegetables, washing them, and preparing a delicious lunch over a firewood stove.

After lunch, the children took part in a nature and art education class where they used stones to draw turtles. Afterwards, everyone hiked to the turtle exhibition area to explore the turtles and their living environment.

At 16:00 PM, the program officially concluded, and the children left Joy Valley with a sense of accomplishment. After a day of activities and learning, they developed a deeper connection with nature. The concept of “respecting life and revering nature” was planted as a seed in their hearts.

Brilliant Moments

Mentor’s Message:

  1. During nature observation: Guide the children to engage all their senses (hearing, sight, touch, smell, taste). Through exploring and observing plants and small insects, children accumulate natural emotions, which will later contribute to their writing by providing a wealth of perceptions and understanding.
  2. During hiking in the mountains: Children showed mutual care and cooperation while using observation tools, which greatly trained their teamwork spirit.
  3. While picking vegetables and digging ginger, children discovered a large number of ants and earthworms. Through dialogue, they learned about natural farming methods and ecological chains.
  4. When children received badges with English designs as rewards, they enjoyed the visual aesthetics and the incorporation of English. This concrete memory aid helped children immerse themselves in playful learning.
