On the 16th day of the lunar calendar, just after the Lantern Festival, Joy Valley hosted its first special parent-child event of the year, the “Walking Away from Hundred Diseases” activity. “Walking Away from Hundred Diseases” is a traditional custom that has been passed down in northern China since the Ming and Qing dynasties, with the main purpose of warding off evil spirits and illnesses. People go out and wander around, symbolically dispersing the sickness and seeking good fortune and good health.
In the morning, Teacher Tao Ran Gu Long started to get busy, cleaning ingredients, setting fire to hot water, disinfecting tableware, and waiting for guests to arrive!

Event message:
The first outdoor activity at the beginning of the year is a spring outing activity that extends from the theme of walking through various diseases, symbolizing the elimination of evil spirits and diseases, a new year without disasters or diseases, health and happiness. During this period, various novel experiences allow friends of all sizes to not lose their enthusiasm due to the cold weather. They visit mountains and rivers, make firewood and rice, harvest fresh vegetables and radishes, and the children are very happy and enjoy the process. Parents and children started together, grilling meat and cooking in an oil pot. The smoke from the cooking was lingering and the atmosphere was filled with joy. Throughout the activity, everyone felt vibrant, with the sound of birds singing and the fragrance of flowers, feeling relaxed and happy. When the children started making lanterns, they kept sharing. The red envelopes they received during the Chinese New Year and everyone’s blessings moved everyone. After lunch, the children play various mountain games that challenge courage and balance, break through psychological barriers, bravely challenge themselves to cross a single wooden bridge, and each child shows off their skills and breaks through themselves!
